Zuma Beach

First, we’d like to recommend Zuma Beach which is a top choice of ours in Malibu. This beach is a favorite to recommend for a couple of different reasons including it’s great for boogie borders, large groups, and families. There are lifeguards on duty at all times during regular hours, they have showers, restrooms, volleyball courts, swings, a bike path, and they even have a concession stand if you’re feeling peckish and you’d like to get something to eat.

This spot is very popular on the weekends and it’s even more crowded on holidays because local beachgoers always have a blast while here. There’s lots of parking available on-site that will cost anywhere from three dollars to $10. But if you don’t feel like paying, you also have the option to park on the street which is free.

It’s a fun beach to visit if you’re looking to surf because it is possible to catch a couple of waves here and there. But the waves close out, so believe it or not it’s actually a better spot for those who love boogie boarding and body surfing because the waves are ideal for those particular activities.

All in all, you’re really going to love spending time at Zuma Beach. The crowds are always happy and excited, there’s plenty of fun to be had by all, and if you feel like hiking, Point Dume is nearby so you can check that out to while you’re there.

Leo Carrillo State Park

The beach at Leo Carrillo State Park in Malibu is also an excellent place to go if you’re looking to enjoy spending time on the beach. You’re really going to like this place because it’s a great beach to go to if you like swimming, windsurfing, regular surfing, surf fishing, and beachcombing is especially fun to do while you’re here.

But that’s not all, because they also have gorgeous coastal caves, tide pools, and plenty of great reefs if you’re looking to explore. The main campgrounds are shaded by giant sycamore trees and there is even backcountry hiking in the park if you get bored and feel like stepping away from the beach for a more strenuous activity.

To park at the beach it will cost about $12 if you plan on staying the whole day. If you’re only going to be there for an hour, it’s three dollars per car. For two hours, it’s six dollars per car. And for three hours, it’s nine dollars per car.

You are also allowed to camp at the park. It has a picnic area, an RV lot, a campsite, fire rings, restrooms, and showers as well. So if you’re traveling the roads of the US in an RV, you may want to stop at Leo Carrillo State Park because this great place has a whole lot to offer. It’s even dog friendly too!

Surfrider Beach

If surfing is your thing, then we highly recommend taking a moment to visit Surfrider Beach. Care to guess where it’s located? If you said Malibu your 100% correct! All of the great LA County beaches are located in Malibu if you didn’t know that already.

The beautiful thing about Surfrider Beach is that it’s actually part of a larger beach known as Malibu Lagoon State Beach, which consists of the Malibu Pier and the Malibu Lagoon. This beach is perfect for those seeking thrills on the water, and there’s even a stretch of this beach known as the World Surfing Reserve. This particular area is totally famous and made that way from surfers like Gidget and other famous wave riders.

You’re going to absolutely love this prime location because it’s the ideal spot for short borders and long borders with three point breaks. It’s also a great place to go if you’re into watching people, because there are so many around soaking up the sun and enjoying their time on the sand.

It’s a great place to visit if you are a tourist or a surfer looking to relish the day riding the waves. The facilities here consist of showers and restrooms and nothing more, but there are plenty of great places to eat in and around the beach so no worries there.

Parking is $12, but if you don’t feel like paying you can always park on the street if you could find a space. So keep that in mind as well.
